Umm Salal 3-2 FC Seoul

Umm Salal staged a thrilling comeback against FC Seoul in the first leg of their ACL quarter-final at Qatar Sports Club.

Seoul held a two-goal lead at the interval thanks to Jung Jo-gook's brace but Magno Alves' double either side of Fabio Cesar's sublime finish means the Doha club head to Korea for the return leg next week with a slender advantage.

Seoul got off to the perfect start, taking the lead inside the opening two minutes when Jung met Kim Seung-yong's ba! ll from the right and his first touch took him away from his marker, allowing him to turn and shoot past keeper Baba Malik.

Jung made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time when Kim Seung-yong's driving run down the left ended with the defender cutting the ball back from the byline to the unmarked striker, who nonchalantly sidefooted home from eight yards.

Alves halved the deficit in the 56th minute when he sprang Seoul's offside trap and bore down on goal leaving three defenders in his wake before slipping a finish between the legs of advancing keeper Kim Ho-jun.

Seoul then saw a perfectly good goal ruled out as Ahn Tae-un's forceful run ended with the defender producing a curling left-footed strike from 20 yards that smacked the underside of the crossbar and bounced out but not before the ball had crossed the line by a couple of yards.

Worse was to follow as Umm Salal then snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with two late goals.

Fabio pu! lled the hosts level in the 83rd minute when he brought down A! lves' di agonal pass in the box and bent a shot around Kim Ho-jun into the far corner with the outside of his left boot.

Barely a minute later, Alves raced onto a long ball down the right in between two defenders and smashed a low drive from the edge of the area that beat Kim Ho-jun at his near post.
